The pictures above show how textured the ceiling was which I think dates a room and also encourages dust to stick which no one wants! We had a plasterer in to smooth it over and also patch where the electrics had been run. Following this, Mason did a mist coat on the fresh plaster (a coat of watered down emulsion paint) to seal it, and then painted the ceiling a warm white.
We then spent a lot of time filling existing holes and imperfections, and sanding it all down ready for the wallpaper to be installed. The paint samples that you see below were the options I selected for the door, door frame and skirting boards. In the end I went for Farrow & Ball Skimming Stone which Mason painted the woodwork in and then caulked it all for a crisp finish.
