Once the wardrobes were boxed in, we had the ceiling skimmed to remove the texture, and also had the top 30cm of the room replastered . We did this because we wanted a smooth finish for the paint as the lighting is going to be unforgiving when it comes to texture! Once the plaster was dried out, we did a mist coat over the top and also tested some burnt orange paint samples - it was tricky finding the perfect shade but we got there in the end!

Soon after that, the sofa bed was delivered which was really exciting for us as it is the first new big piece of furniture that we've ordered for the house! We went for the burnt orange colour to match the paint, and chose velvet as we felt the room would need the texture. It was really difficult finding a sofa bed in the correct size and colour but I finally found this one from Habitat which fits the room perfectly and extends out to a double bed.
